FREE CHIPOTLE

This has totally been the week of visitors! We have had someone sleeping on our couch for the past three nights. Thank goodness we have a pullout couch and cute bedding! Here is a photo of how cute Annabeth's quilt looks with my purple pillow.

Ok. Get ready for this story. Because it was the highlight of my entire life. So if you know me at all, you know that I eat Chipotle roughly once a week. So on Friday, I was a little depressed since I hadn't had it yet that week. I was scrolling through Twitter when I saw that Chipotle had tweeted an opportunity for a coupon! They said if I downloaded their app, Scarecrow, and passed four levels, I could get a BOGO free coupon! Umm yes please. I told Syd she could have my free one and proceeded to play the game. We got to Chipotle only to discover that they were out of a lot of ingredients. Sydney was told there would be a 3 minute wait for chicken, so she said she would just wait. Then they told me it would be a ten minute wait for my lettuce (what the heck it doesn't take 10 minutes to chop lettuce!) but I said I would wait anyways since I had to wait for Syd's chicken too. HERE IS THE MORAL OF THE STORY GUYS. If they ask you if you want to wait for an ingredient, the answer is ALWAYS yes. They felt bad for me waiting so they gave Sydney and I free large drinks to enjoy while we waited. Bonus!!! They finally had lettuce again but by now the rest of my burrito was cold so they made me go back through the line and order mine again except this time, they were practically out of steak! I got the last couple of lousy pieces. I wasn't about to complain though, because we had waited so long. I finally had my burrito and I got to the cashier ready to use my coupon when the guy working there said that Sydney and I's burritos were on them since we had to wait so much! This photo explains how much joy we had at that moment. Free burritos and drinks AND we still got to keep our coupon? Too good. Then we got home and I was still a little ticked because it took so long so I emailed corporate. They emailed me back saying they would send me a coupon for a FOUR PERSON MEAL. That's right. Meal. Not just burritos. Drinks, chips, and guac included. THEN Sydney played the Scarecrow game too and got a coupon. So we will have a total of 6 completely free burritos and 2 BOGO free ones. Too good.

Here is a photo of a cat wearing graph paper glasses.

Friday night we had a Relief Society event where we made fleece blankets. It turned into a fleece fight at one point and then into a fleece-letter making event. We made letters that said "Hendricks" for Sister Hendricks but you can't really tell that from this picture...

Syd is a beautiful model.

That over the shoulder pose gets me every time.

Ali put this in my lap. What the heck!!! hahaha

I made a fleece mustache...

Then on Saturday we went to the Institute and helped the missionaries draw the Plan of Salvation in chalk!! So cool. Actually it wasn't cool because it was so stinking hot outside. But we toughed it out.

As you can see, the sun clearly got to us.

The chalking group.

After that we went to a roomie dinner in celebration of the Relief Society broadcast. This photo accurately depicts Annabeth and I's relationship.

So does this one.

Mandatory pizookie pic.

Sunday funday!!!

ANNABETH AND I ARE VISITING TEACHING COMPANIONS!!! Woooo

A little poker face to celebrate.

And here is a picture of our awesome home teachers, Cody and Derek! It's gonna be a great year :)

Missionaries galore!

Okay so here is my finished painting for my art class! Looking back on it now, I would have made the trees and the elephant much lighter because they are super hard to see when it's not heavily lit. Oh well! It was a learning experience.

Here are some photos of the missionaries at Waffle Tuesday this week! Easily my favorite day of the week. I love my peanut butter waffles. Elder Dayley below is doing his thang. Texting.

And here is Elder Wasden just being himself.

Sooooo Annabeth and I with our spontaneous personalities decided we were going to go on a juice fast. Here are the photos of us shopping at Sprouts to get all the vegetables and fruits for us to juice! Super excited at this point.

We basically got everything in the world.

Here is the first juice we made! Pineapple, cucumber, and strawberry.

This one is peach, orange, and carrots.

And this one is spinach, apple, cucumber, lemon, and ginger.

Here they all are in their little mason jars!! The cleanse for me lasted 2 meals. I couldn't do it anymore. It was so pulpy and gross. And I was lethargic and all I wanted was a big thing of Chipotle.

Well we had the missionaries over for dinner (all four of them!) and Lauren made us lasagna. This was my "break-the-fast". And it was awesome! Here is Sister Hendricks and I. We freaking love sister missionaries and it's been forever since 3rd ward had some!

What's this? A Book of Mormon?

I had to whip out the poker face.

Then today (Thursday), the missionaries had set up a booth outside of the Institute so they could talk to people as they were walking by! They are so gosh darn cute and righteous. Sister Eyre (the one in black) is rocking her bow.

Lots of Books to give out!

We love investigators!

So does Elder Wasden. He had the most awesome tie ever today!

Then for dinner I made myself pasta with ground turkey, kale, cannellini beans, and goat cheese. Super yummy! You could say that it's been a good week.

Rat-patootie

Okay so on Saturday I basically just did some errands in the morning, and then I came home to prep for my Ratatouille "party". I put party in quotations because there were only 5 people, but I still got excited. I painted an eiffel tower to put on our wall for a decoration and here is that in the middle of the process.

I made Ratatouille which was seriously SO EASY and super yummy. I sliced up some squash, zucchini, eggplant, and red bell pepper.

Then I poured tomato puree in the bottom of a glass baking dish and seasoned the puree with salt, pepper, a couple of minced garlic cloves, and a chopped onion. Then I layered the sliced vegetables in the pan and covered it with fresh thyme and olive oil. Cover that with a piece of parchment paper and bake at 375 for 50 minutes! I can do that any night of the week. I served it over cous cous with a dollop of soft goat cheese on top.

I thought we could make a French-inspired garland so Annabeth helped me with that and we liked it so much that we decided it'll be a permanent thing in our place.

And here is the completed eiffel tower.

And our Christmas lights. They are always up but I felt like they added to the French vibe as well.

Fresh out of the oven!

And on the plate. So yumm-o!

Later that night we went to Target to get some last minute items and I found the cat leggings that I have been lusting after!! They were on sale for SIX DOLLAS. You better believe that I will be wearing them quite often.

At church today I saw Grace!! So we took an Asian photo together. She's the cutest.

Also Lauren conducted the opening hymn in Relief Society. She also taught the lesson but I didn't take a picture of that.

So after church I headed over to the Tucson Museum of Art because I needed to visit an exhibition for my painting class. It was so freaking awesome! And since I'm still only 18, they counted me as a "youth" so it was free! Yippee!

Even the benches were cool and artsy!

I like pioneers.

The outside looked pretty darn cool.

I focused on the Biennial exhibit which made me so happy! I love art so much.

I'm not going to describe every photo because some of it is just pretty to look at. So enjoy.

This spiral one was my favorite piece aesthetically. It is so peaceful and reminds me of seashells!

I was also mesmerized by this paper plane structure. I couldn't capture how beautiful it was with my phone but I think you get the picture.

I just thought this one was super weird but also intriguing.

Ok. This is the one I was most excited about. I was so confused walking up to it. Like, why is there a wall filled with blank frames. BUT they are not just white papers.

It is an entire kitchen scene made by poking holes in all of the paper! I thought this installation would look so cool if it were backlit and the light shone through the tiny holes.

Look at that detail in the fridge! So cool.

Here's a picture where you can see the layout - cabinets, fridge on the right, microwave on top of the counter....etc.

I also took some pictures of how the museum was laid out. It's kind of like the Guggenheim (which I've sadly never been to) but it's square. So basically you go down a ramp and there is art along the walls but there are also rooms on each "floor".

I looked at a couple of the other exhibits and I thought Lauren would have appreciated this one. It was all art with hands! So cool.

I definitely want to go back to the museum. Perhaps I will go back with Sydney because we can both get in for free. Or I can try to convince someone to go on a date with me...hmm. Either way it was a happy weekend! I miss Sydney a great deal and can't wait to have my roommate and friend back! Our room feels so lonely.
