Rat-patootie

Okay so on Saturday I basically just did some errands in the morning, and then I came home to prep for my Ratatouille "party". I put party in quotations because there were only 5 people, but I still got excited. I painted an eiffel tower to put on our wall for a decoration and here is that in the middle of the process.

I made Ratatouille which was seriously SO EASY and super yummy. I sliced up some squash, zucchini, eggplant, and red bell pepper.

Then I poured tomato puree in the bottom of a glass baking dish and seasoned the puree with salt, pepper, a couple of minced garlic cloves, and a chopped onion. Then I layered the sliced vegetables in the pan and covered it with fresh thyme and olive oil. Cover that with a piece of parchment paper and bake at 375 for 50 minutes! I can do that any night of the week. I served it over cous cous with a dollop of soft goat cheese on top.

I thought we could make a French-inspired garland so Annabeth helped me with that and we liked it so much that we decided it'll be a permanent thing in our place.

And here is the completed eiffel tower.

And our Christmas lights. They are always up but I felt like they added to the French vibe as well.

Fresh out of the oven!

And on the plate. So yumm-o!

Later that night we went to Target to get some last minute items and I found the cat leggings that I have been lusting after!! They were on sale for SIX DOLLAS. You better believe that I will be wearing them quite often.

At church today I saw Grace!! So we took an Asian photo together. She's the cutest.

Also Lauren conducted the opening hymn in Relief Society. She also taught the lesson but I didn't take a picture of that.

So after church I headed over to the Tucson Museum of Art because I needed to visit an exhibition for my painting class. It was so freaking awesome! And since I'm still only 18, they counted me as a "youth" so it was free! Yippee!

Even the benches were cool and artsy!

I like pioneers.

The outside looked pretty darn cool.

I focused on the Biennial exhibit which made me so happy! I love art so much.

I'm not going to describe every photo because some of it is just pretty to look at. So enjoy.

This spiral one was my favorite piece aesthetically. It is so peaceful and reminds me of seashells!

I was also mesmerized by this paper plane structure. I couldn't capture how beautiful it was with my phone but I think you get the picture.

I just thought this one was super weird but also intriguing.

Ok. This is the one I was most excited about. I was so confused walking up to it. Like, why is there a wall filled with blank frames. BUT they are not just white papers.

It is an entire kitchen scene made by poking holes in all of the paper! I thought this installation would look so cool if it were backlit and the light shone through the tiny holes.

Look at that detail in the fridge! So cool.

Here's a picture where you can see the layout - cabinets, fridge on the right, microwave on top of the counter....etc.

I also took some pictures of how the museum was laid out. It's kind of like the Guggenheim (which I've sadly never been to) but it's square. So basically you go down a ramp and there is art along the walls but there are also rooms on each "floor".

I looked at a couple of the other exhibits and I thought Lauren would have appreciated this one. It was all art with hands! So cool.

I definitely want to go back to the museum. Perhaps I will go back with Sydney because we can both get in for free. Or I can try to convince someone to go on a date with me...hmm. Either way it was a happy weekend! I miss Sydney a great deal and can't wait to have my roommate and friend back! Our room feels so lonely.
